Location. Parking is free and in downtown.
The room call "no smoking" but it was smoking before with horrible stink of smoke form the curtains, sofa, and carpet. I could not stay in the room at all. If you are sensitive to smoke be sure to check on it or avoid this place altogether.

Large room for the money although it does show its age. The location is great for access to the beach, trails around the seawall, stanely park and restaurants. The ferry to Granville island is a short walk as is downtown.

The hotel was very comfortable for our family. We enjoyed having the extra space with our baby and the kitchen allowed us to cook meals. Great location! Would definitely stay there again.
They were low on towels and asked us to return our dirty ones before giving us new ones.

The room was very spacious and I loved its location. Situated right in the centre of downtown Vancouver with a multitude of shops, restaurants and the beach right on the door step.
I found the room to be quite shabby and inadequately supplied. I was definitely not impressed with the insistence of the staff to pay for the room the moment we arrived and before we had even been into it.

My husband and I were extremely happy with the locaton, the staff and the size of the suite. Everything you want or need is within walking distance. We will be back and will recommend Ocean side hotel to friends. We stayed in room #102.
The one thing that was missing was somewhere to sit down and relax out side. I sitting area would be nice.

Good location, large rooms, inclusion of full size kitchen.
Colour scheme; depressing browns and greens throughout! Some furniture, eg. Dining table and chairs need to be updated.

First of all, the hotels location was great. it wasn't so close to downtown Vancouver (about 20 min walk), but it was very close to Stanley Park, and we had a very cheap grocery store 5 min from the hotel. second of all, our room was just like a little apartment, with all the necessary facilities, so that we've made all our meals in our room.
The hotel rooms are a little old, and the door didn't look very much secured, and there wasn't always a clerk at the front desk, so we were worried all the time of someone breaking in our room.

Without a doubt, the location. Oceanside Hotel is in a magnificent location, close to the city central, close to Stanley Park and the shoreside walks were stunning. It was great to be able to get everywhere by foot. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and kind.
We were disappointed that in booking the hotel back in February and being advertised as a "suite" which was one of the main reasons other than location that we chose this hotel, that we ended up in a very small, dark room with just a bathroom and two beds. It was adequate for the one evening, but had we been staying there longer, I would have certainly had to move my 84 year old Mom somwhere better. I was completely unaware there were any rooms other than "suites" available. Also, the fact that our friend's room was not ready until after 6:00 pm would have been a huge inconvenience had we not ahd a room booked as well as they would have lost their entire afternoon in Vancouver and been stuck with their luggage.

A very good location, at a quite reasonable price, for enjoying walks in Stanley Park, walking along the sea shore, and visiting the city.
The room looked out on a blank wall next door which was disappointing. The basic kitchen items could be a bit more comprehensive.

Sam, who works the reception desk. The location was perfect for being able walk the downtown shopping and park areas. Getting free parking was good too.

Convenient for West End and Downtown Vancouver
The kitchen equipment available was pretty basic; it would have been good to have a few more essentials for cooking with

Not fancy but very clean, close to ocean, restaurants and stores. It has free parking (in a very congested area) and free wi fi and all the rooms have a bedroom, full kitchen, bathroom and living room.

Although this is an older apartment-hotel, we thought it was an excellent value--comfortable bed; extra room with sleeper sofa; kitchen with range, refrigerator & microwave; free wi-fi; free parking.
Sofa not too comfortable for sitting.

Location was great close to shops, beach and stanley park. Rooms very large and comfortable
Plenty of cupboard, but they were empty, need to be filled with more cooking utensils. Also need a kettle to boil water, needed a pot to boil water.

This hotel was in a perfect location for English Bay, Denman Street and Stanley Park. Our one bedroom apartment was very spacious and comfortable. We would definitely stay here if we were in Vancouver again and would recommend to friends. No frills but very good value for the money.
A few small maintenance problems, we had one window taped up and problems locking our door.
